Entrance Ideas
Some concepts for the entrance way sculptures.
Driftwood is one of the main materials we have in mind, due to it being naturally abundant on Himatangi Beach. I think it also offers a good opportunity for natural shapes and flow.
I like the idea of a wave shape, as it links to the beach and also demonstrates movement as it runs parallel to the road.
More ideas working with more individual pieces rather than one big sculpture. Connecting themes and stories from around town, and also continuing with the wave idea.
At the bottom is an idea for pieces around town that inform people of the town's identity and history. The centre is a clear plane of plastic with part of an image on it. The environment behind the piece becomes the background of the image (e.g., the sea for the taniwha.) The plaque below would explain the relevant story or information for that area.
